How to Clean Bird’s Cage Properly?

Clean the cage properly and regularly. A clean cage reduces the possibility of bacteria, fungi, or contagious infections in your bird’s body. If you cannot cope with it every day, birds are not the perfect pets for you.

– Change the cage base regularly.

-Clean dirt from perch / toy.

– Throw away the inedible feed and settle at the bottom of the cage.

-If your bird sheds its feathers (very common for parrots), you have to clean the fallen fur every day; usually occurs when the weather is hot or when the temperature rises about 5ºC.

-Use basic non-toxic cleaning tools only. Birds are easily poisoned, so look for products that are safe for birds before using them.

Regular cleaning of dirt is very important to be a bird health. What’s more, birds that live in clean environments tend to be more active and happier than birds living in dirty environments.

  1. If the weather is hot, keep the birds outdoors, either in the cage or on the perch (you may only remove the bird from its cage if its wings are clamped so that the bird cannot escape). Spray water into the bird’s body. Birds love the cold sensation.
